Vinyl Shipping Update

May 27 2021

In an effort to be transparent, we wanted to let fans know what’s going on with worldwide vinyl production.

Some of you may have noticed that recent vinyl pre-orders have been quoting five to eight months production and ship time. Many of our previously-sold vinyl soundtracks have been pushed back a few months as well.

To be clear, this is not a problem isolated to zaituporteroselectricos or our vinyl production partners. This is a global production issue.

There has been a huge vinyl boom in the last two years, with vinyl actually outselling compact discs for the first time in 34 years in 2020. High demand combined with COVID-19 delays at pressing plants has created a severe bottleneck in production worldwide… and COVID-19 isn’t the only blow the vinyl industry took. Back in February of last year, the Apollo Masters Corp warehouse caught fire in California, destroying 70-85 percent of lacquer plates used in vinyl production worldwide. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Apollo Masters, they are one of only two places in the world who produce the lacquer discs needed to create master plates for pressing records.

All of these things: COVID shipping container shortages, plants closing down for several weeks, a devastating fire, and very high demand, have caused and aggravated these delays. We hope that within the next year vinyl ship times will go back to a more normal timeframe, but for now we thank you for your patience and understanding.

Thank you,

LRG Team
