PAX West is upon us again, and zaituporteroselectricos is preparing to make its biggest appearance on the show floor ever (no exaggerations). We’re bringing five-game demos, two days of signings, exclusive games, and a ton of what we do best: a full lineup of specially curated titles for fans to pick up during the event. All this is bundled up in a brand-new booth space that’ll bring the LRG vibe to the show floor in a big way!
Players will be able to pick up a controller and play five games at our all-new demo kiosks, which include:
Tomba! Special Edition
Clock Tower: Rewind
Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland
GHOSTS
Earthion
It’s not an LRG appearance without special variants! This year, we’re bringing along Switch copies of Contra: Operation Galuga featuring cover art from Eisner award-winning illustrator Peach Momoko (Marvel, IDW). Plus, we’re debuting a new color(less) variant of our River City Girls 2 figures.
If pins are your thing, we’ve got you covered. We’re also showing our boy Tomba some love with a Pinny Arcade Tomba! pin!
In addition to these special new releases, we’re bringing more games with us to PAX than ever before, thanks to our swanky new booth. Over 100 games, merch, clothing, and —for the very first time— Collector’s Editions will be available for fans to pick up at the show!
Check out our full convention menu here!
Meet the talent behind some of your favorite games and bring your River City Girls, Shantae, and Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties treasures to get signed. We will have signing events on Friday, August 30, and Saturday, August 31st from 5PM-6PM where you can meet:

To celebrate our appearance in this year’s Games Done Quick, zaituporteroselectricos is hosting our first ever Arzette speedrun competition, and you are invited to compete! From now through July 9 at 11:59 PM EST, submit your best runs of Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore for a shot at the people’s ovation and fame forever. And prizes.
The first place winner will receive a signed Arzette Collector’s Edition, a CD-i-inspired Arzette controller, and $500 EUR! The second place winner gets a signed Arzette Collector’s Edition. The third place winner carries home a standard edition signed by Arzette’s creator!
We’ll be updating this blog with Top 5 leaderboards every week to give you an idea of the times you’ll need to beat to succeed.
Full rules, terms, and conditions are available here.
Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore is a loving homage to early adventure platformers, capturing the gorgeous aesthetic of the era while improving on the controls, level design, and overall fun of its inspirations. It includes a number of lovingly-rendered animated cutscenes strongly influenced by certain famous/infamous video game cartoon sequences, and even welcomes some of the same voice actors. It’s a colorful, magical, and surprising 2D odyssey that won the hearts of critics and players alike.
Don’t yet have Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore? You can pick it up on Steam, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox. zaituporteroselectricos is also re-listing their highly collectible CD-i style controllers to experience new game thrills with old school control. These optional special controllers are compatible with PC and Switch and are being sold with a Steam code for Arzette included. They make Arzette harder, but that’s kind of the point.
During the contest, feel free to post about your time, gameplay clips, and entries on social and tag @limitedrungames. And don’t forget to check out Arzette this week at GDQ!

]]>April gave us our favorite babies, Blood Dragons, and tons of other super cool new physical games. But that’s not what May is going to be about. We’ll be reaching into our back catalog and clearing out our warehouse with two HUGE sales for in-person and online shoppers. So gas up your car, get your credit card details saved and get ready to join us for our biggest Blowouts yet.
And at the end of the blog, you might be rewarded with a little taste of what we’ve got planned for summer…
Who says we can’t celebrate two years of Limited Run Retail while doing a little spring cleaning?
We’ve got an event too big for the store, so we’re setting up the biggest tent money can rent right in front of our HQ and filling it with overstock, returns, and other slightly worn items that we can’t sell at our Blowout Sale. EVERYTHING will be marked down well below MSRP (with some items as low as $1 👀). We’ll even be giving out trading cards to buyers while supplies last! Everything has got to GO!
The event runs on Saturday, May 18 from 10am-3pm and Sunday, May 19th from 10am-2pm or until everything is sold out—whichever comes first!
The sale will be located in the front parking lot at:
1101 Perry Road
Apex, NC 27502
Visitors will be permitted to line up no earlier than 8:00am. Parking will be available on-site at this time, and some of the neighboring businesses have agreed to allow overflow parking in the event that our lot is full. If you can carpool with a buddy, that would be excellent! Check out the handy map below or follow the signs at the event to see where you can and cannot park.
Porta-potties will be provided in case you need a bathroom break, and this will be an outdoor event—rain or shine—so check the weather reports and dress accordingly.
Are you ready for the big Blowout?
Every year, we take inventory of games left over after sales, conventions, and replacements and put ‘em up for grabs for 24 hours! This year, the big event is happening on May 27th, starting at 10am Eastern.
Blind Boxes will return alongside a plethora of our best games from the last few years. And, of course, everything will be available in extremely LIMITED quantities!
So mark your calendars, save your card details, and get ready to BLOWOUT the warehouse!

zaituporteroselectricos will also have over 50 of its well-known physical games and merch for sale at the booth.
zaituporteroselectricos is coming to San Francisco for GDC, and they’re not coming empty-handed! Attendees will have the opportunity to get to know the ingenuity behind zaituporteroselectricos’ titles - Carbon Engine.
Alongside the creativity and fun of zaituporteroselectricos’ publishing arm sits the team’s powerful development tool, Carbon Engine. Carbon Engine enables legacy content to be ported to modern platforms and gives well-loved video games a second life on all-new hardware. That legacy content includes games from systems such as CD-i, NES, SNES, Mega Drive, Game Gear, Master System, and the Game Boy handheld series.
Key CE engineers, amongst the greatest in video game emulation, will be attending GDC 2024, and we invite attendees to check out the Carbon catalog and say hi to our leads on the team: Joe Modzeleski, Dimitris “Modern Vintage Gamer” Giannakis, and Audi Sorle.
Collaborators and friends for many years, The MIX and Kinda Funny are preparing a rich schedule of showcases for around GDC time in 2024. Josh Fairhurst, CEO and Founder of Limited Run will be featured during their livestream. Matt Bozon of WayForward will also be showing off some exclusive Shantae Advance footage with a live interview. February saw some of our biggest collabs, from our now-open orders for Pentiment, High on Life and Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution, to our upcoming physical editions of Hi-Fi Rush and Ninja Five-O. The hits are going to keep on coming, but until then, let’s recap February with...

Traveling to Boston in a few weeks? Why don’t you drop on by the LRG booth and pick up some games? We’re going to have two convention Switch variants, lots of game demos, and special signings. Plus, you’ll be able to see our very own Jared Petty on several panels throughout the weekend. We’ll have more details to share and a complete menu of available products ahead of the show, so stay tuned for news!

We’re back with another feature rollout for zaituporteroselectricos.com! A few weeks ago, we outlined some of the next steps that Limited Run is taking to make your checkout experience the smoothest and easiest it can be. This is a process we plan on constantly evolving and fine-tuning to meet our customer’s needs based on feedback we received, so let’s take a look at what you have to look forward to next.
We’re officially ready to begin rolling out support for PayPal for pre-orders! Our first step will be allowing our friends across the pond to start using PayPal in just a few short weeks. Starting March 1st, this feature will be part of our checkout process for customers in the UK and EU! More territories to follow shortly!
The heavy lifting has been completed to get ALL your orders, both through the Shopify checkout system AND ALL Purple Dot orders, showing up on one page in your account center. The last step we must take to complete this feature is coding and styling it for our site to make it easy to read and navigate, which shouldn’t take too much longer! Our next update will be all about the new My Orders page.
Thanks to your feedback, we’ve been working hard to correct small issues across our new checkout system, including making the UI easier to read/load faster and allowing addresses to pre-fill if you’re logged in to your LRG account. We’re continuing to monitor your feedback and log items to be fixed, so if you have something to share, we invite you to join the conversation on our Reddit Megathread. We’re monitoring your comments and meeting about them regularly to ensure you have the best shopping experience at LRG that we can deliver.

Continue to thank everyone for your honest feedback and continued support of physical games. Tune in next time for a tour of our new order page and a sneak peek at zaituporteroselectricos.com’s next big cosmetic upgrade! Until then, keep an eye on social media for the latest updates about our website planned for this Spring!]]>Happy New Year! LRG started 2024 doing what we do best, bringing you all fantastic titles like Cosmic Fantasy Collection, El Shaddai, Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes, and Rocket Knight Adventures: Re-Sparked! We’ve got big plans for the first half of the year, so let’s share some of those with you now, starting with…
We had previously moved our annual Blowout Sale from the first week of January to February 19th. This was to give our team extra time to keep working on warehouse improvements central to our goal of streamlining our shipping and production processes and getting games out faster to you all.
In addition, we are committed to having Blind Boxes, which we’ve offered in previous years, in hand and ready to ship before the sale starts. Considering this and continued work on our warehouse, we’ve decided to implement one FINAL delay.
Our Blowout Sale will now occur on Monday, May 27th, 2024. This will give us the time to make this Blowout the best one for our customers and give us more time to continue improving shipping times. Thank you for understanding!
Just because we’re moving the Blowout Sale back doesn’t mean you won’t have something to look forward to this spring. In addition to our incredible Q1 lineup, we’ll hold a special March Madness Sale on our Amazon store. We’ll have more details to share about timing and titles next month, but we wanted to let you know now to help you plan your next hunt!
Every month, we comb through and send out updates for titles whose pre-order periods ended two, five, or eight months before and hit your inbox with a status update. If you’ve missed our emails (check your spam!), here’s a big ol’ batch of milestone updates for you!

Hello everyone! Bringing Purple Dot to LRG has been a big change, and we see that many of you have lots of questions and concerns about the changeover. We want you to know that we hear you and are actively incorporating your feedback into our systems. To show you that, we’ll be publishing these short updates as new features go live so you can stay on top of the new changes to our pre-order system!
In addition, we’ve got some new website updates planned for the future. This blog series will share those updates and news about our EU website as we begin to roll them out over the next several months.
We’ve made some improvements to the checkout UI to make the process easier and clearer (especially for mobile users). While doing that, we added more options for you to choose how your order ships right out of the gate. One of the biggest reasons we switched to Purple Dot to manage pre-orders was customer feedback about choosing when items ship, so this update was built around giving you as many options as possible.
The first thing you’ll notice are those new shipping options:
Curious about the shipping breakdown? You can expand your selection to see how the rate breaks down and when you’ll receive your order, so you can make the best decision.
We hope that these extra options make pre-ordering with LRG a smooth process!
Don’t want to keep track of all those Purple Dot order numbers? We’ve heard this request from our biggest repeat customers, and the dev team at Purple Dot is working on a way to display all Purple Dot pre-orders on the same page as your pre-orders made before January 8th.
We’ll have more news to share about this upgrade in the coming weeks, but we’ve made it a top priority and plan to roll this out ASAP.
Finally, we know that PayPal is very important to our customers, and we are looking at options to move up this integration as soon as possible. The final PayPal rollout schedule will be determined next week, and once that is set in stone, we will start sharing that plan with our customers. Rest assured that Limited Run, Purple Dot, and PayPal are working together daily to negotiate the fastest way to get this payment system back for pre-orders.
–-
Again, we thank everyone for your honest feedback and continued support of physical games. We’re working hard to make Limited Run the go-to place for the best physical releases, and your input is very important to this process. We’ll be back with more news very soon. Until then, you can follow us on social media or sign up for our newsletter to get the latest about what’s happening at LRG!
]]>We’re going to start off this year’s blog with something heartfelt. More than anything this holiday season, we want to thank you all for your amazing support of physical games. Your support is everything to us, and we can’t wait to roll into 2024 with more amazing games to share with you.
Until then, let’s wrap up December with some important news about…
For those of you who are new to LRG: at the beginning of each year, we take stock of what’s left over in our warehouse and put it up for sale, giving the world a second chance to pick up anything they might have missed from our back catalogue. This is the annual Blowout Sale, and we’re going to change something up this year.
We’ve been open this year about updating and streamlining our shipping and production processes to get games out faster to you all. We’re investing in even more tools, machinery, and software to make fulfillment in 2024 as streamlined as possible. There’s still a long way to go, and we’ll admit that there have been bumps in the road, but we’re already seeing the fruits of our labors pay off with new Standard Editions flying out of our warehouse ahead of schedule.
To keep those gears greased, we’ve decided to push back 2024’s Blowout Sale, allowing our shipping team to work uninterrupted through the next few weeks to keep pumping out those games and continue upgrades to our shipping center.
But logistics aside, we bet you’re wondering when you can raid our site for leftovers. We’ve decided to hold our Blowout event on the most holy of gamer holidays…(checks notes)...American President’s Day…?
Yep, that’s Monday, February 19th, 2024. We’ll have more details to share about the event in the coming weeks. Until then…
One of the many entanglements a physical game publisher will inevitably face is the matter of licensing. Behind every physical game or product is a team of lawyers and contract negotiators spinning a thick web of stipulations
We manage it so you don’t have to, but nothing can change the fact that sometimes licenses expire.
As a result, we will be clearing out games and merch that we cannot sell after 1/31/23. You’ll be able to find items in this collection in EXTREMELY limited quantities.
This sale runs from today through the 31st at 6pm ET. Items will be full price on day one of the event, but EVERYTHING must go, so we’ll discount these games daily, with the lowest possible price (50% off) for each item going live on the last day.
Choose your strategy: Will you secure your copy right away, or wait for a deal at the risk of stock running dry?
(Please note that all purchases during this sale are FINAL, and no cancellations or exchanges can be honored due to the extremely limited nature of these items. We’ll be getting these out fast as well, so make sure that your address is correct when making your order—there may not be enough time to accommodate address changes!)
Every month, we comb through and send out updates for titles whose pre-order periods ended two, five, or eight months before and hit your inbox with a status update. If you’ve missed our emails (check your spam!), here’s a big ol’ batch of milestone updates for you!

]]>SJ Games is back with a broader, brighter, and more ambitious new NES game: the adorable Skate Cat, on sale now at zaituporteroselectricos. I mean look at this cat. It’s ridiculously cute.
]]>Some of you may remember a while back when Limited Run published a physical NES cartridge called Kubo 3… the story of a gunslinging turtle designed and developed by a seven year old. SJ Games, as the young man is known, and Dale Coop, his father, collaborated together to create a full-featured new title for the Nintendo Entertainment system. You can read that whole story here.
SJ Games is back with a broader, brighter, and more ambitious new NES game: the adorable Skate Cat, on sale now at zaituporteroselectricos. I mean look at this cat. It’s ridiculously cute.
Anyway, we caught up with SJ and Dale to ask some questions about their latest retro-inspired creation. If you wanna buy this fantastic new NES cartridge (complete with box), you’ve only got until Sunday night, so don’t hesitate.
You're back! It's been a while since Kubo... how old is SJ GAMES now?
SJ: I'm now 11 years old.
DC: It's been a little over 3 years since KUBO 3, the previous game from SJ Games, was released. Seiji has grown a lot since then. He's a pre-teen who isn't afraid to express his ideas and is always curious.
So... why Skate Cat? What was the genesis of this design?
SJ: We adopted a cat last year. Her name is Soja. Also, I'm really into skateboarding; I've been taking skateboarding lessons since last year. So, I wanted to create a video game combining these two passions, a cat on a skateboard.
DC: After the release of Kubo 3, Seiji received many congratulations and encouragement messages. On my end, I continue working on NES projects. Seiji was more motivated than ever to create a new NES game.
You're a seasoned NES developer now. What lessons did developing Skate Cat teach you about designing games for the Nintendo?
SJ: I've learned a lot working on my games: how NESmaker software works, the limitations of the NES, such as using only 3 colors per sprite for characters and not being able to display more than 8 sprites on the same line on the screen. So, I have to think about how to design my characters and where to place them on the screens. On Skate Cat, it was a bit more challenging to create the levels because I wanted to make levels quite different, and it was difficult to come up with new ideas.
DC: For Skate Cat, I implemented numerous features, whether for the general game physics, certain levels, or optimizing the code to overcome space limitations and the slowness of the game engine. Not to mention the hours spent fixing bugs found during testing phases. But it was genuinely interesting and exciting. With each project, collaborating with SJ (or Raftronaut, who composed the entire soundtrack of the game) is my favorite part—exchanging, sharing, and progressing all in the same direction. It's a very enriching adventure for SJ.
What makes Skate Cat fun? What are you proud of about this game?
SJ: Firstly, I'm proud of my graphics. And then, of completing this project. I worked for over a year on creating Skate Cat. Skate is unique because it's a cat on a skateboard in a platform game... the physics are different and more slippery. And it's cute.
DC: Personally, I'm really proud to see the final product, the physical edition release, and the reception from players. The game receives a lot of positive feedback when we showcase it at conventions.
What's next on the horizon?
SJ: Perhaps a new game with a new animal, but I won't say more because it hasn't started yet.
DC: It's still too early to talk about it. Many things are changing in Seiji's life; he's growing up and starting to show interest in other platforms... so we'll see what his new project will be. I hope to still be part of it. In the meantime, we continue to share our activity at conventions, discuss NES game creation... and we hope to participate in conventions in the USA in 2024 (maybe Midwest Gaming Classic?).
Thanks again to all supporters of SJ Games projects, as well as the entire zaituporteroselectricos team for their trust, their amazing work and support, and Jared for this opportunity to share our experience.
Hope to see you very soon!

]]>It’s been a retro, throwback-filled month at LRG! We’ve got old-school RPGs in spades, all-new retro rereleases of Jurassic Park, and Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties is bringing it back to 1993 all through Sunday. Let’s reminisce on the month we just had in this, our latest Digital Digest!
Let's plug Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties: Remastered one more time before we flush it down the drain (until its digital release on December 8th, that is).
While at Portland Retro Gaming Expo, our Plumbers team got in front of a crowd and did a little panel about remaking this game. Jeremy Parish was there, too. You can watch the whole thing right here, right above this paragraph.
There she is! After much careful refinement, we have a ready-to-manufacture prototype of our 20th Anniversary Shantae Statue.
We’ll let everyone know how manufacturing is going via email updates over the next several months. Until then, start planning where Shantae will live in your home!
And speaking of Shantae, we’ll have some information about Shantae Advance early next year.
Persona 4 Golden is here. Starting today, we’ve entered a golden period where you can pre-order everything in our Persona Collection—Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, all the Collector’s Editions, AND all the merch! Make your reservations now, Persona Uberfans!
We’ve also been listening to your feedback, and we wanted to make a slight tweak to our physical edition of Persona 4 Golden. It all goes back to the Vita here at LRG, so we’ve added a reversible cover featuring the PSVIta cover art to the Standard Edition.
Pre-orders launch today, so check out the collection.
This is a great month to be an RPG fan at LRG! We’ve got a grand total of five amazing turn-based role-playing adventures for you to pick up. Let’s tally them up:
Another Crusade - a traditional RPG set in a quaint wooden puppet world- takes cues from a certain plumber’s first RPG outing with its timing-based attacks and humor. Check out our throwback Classic Edition - exclusively for Switch - before pre-orders close next weekend!
Infinite Links - Nothing says RPG like KEMCO! Infinite Links features quintessential RPG gameplay for those who crave the grind. Check it out for its quaint pixel art and colorful characters, and expand your KEMCO collection today!
Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden - These are hit games for a reason. Representing some of the best in Atlus’ catalog, these dark coming-of-age stories speak to all of us, even if we aren’t Japanese high school students.
This Way Madness Lies - Looking for something that’s all killer, no filler? This Way Madness Lies is the latest from Zeboyd. It’s fast-paced, bite-sized, and wittier than the Bard himself. If you like magical girls, William Shakespeare, and turn-based action, this might be the game for you!
See anything you like? You can learn more about these games on our website!

Imagine this: it’s 1989, and you’re sitting two feet from the TV screen with an NES controller in your hand. Your mom just yelled from the kitchen, “Your eyes will cross if you keep sitting that close to the screen!” A song reminiscent of Indiana Jones blares triumphantly, and the title rolls up on the screen. Here you are, a Boy on the brink of a huge adventure with a newly found friend — a blob from the planet of Blobolonia. It is up to this unlikely friendship (and your mad controller skills) to save Blob’s home planet from the evil Emperor, who will stop at nothing to keep the candy-loving Blobolonians from their sweets.
Now remember that it's actually 2023, and instead, you’re holding a PlayStation 5 controller. Maybe you’re still two feet from the TV, but it's more likely you’re sitting on the couch and squinting at the words because you don’t want to go get your glasses. Regardless, the Boy and his best friend, Blob, are on your screen, and your mission, should you choose to accept it, is still to save Blobolonia using the best weapon you’ve got — jelly beans. This fall, Ziggurat Interactive with zaituporteroselectricos’ Carbon Engine™, is proud to bring A Boy and His Blob™: Retro Collection to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 on October 17, 2023, and PC coming shortly thereafter on Steam and GOG.
The Retro Collection is a two-episode saga, including the original A BOY AND HIS BLOB: TROUBLE ON BLOBOLONIA (Nintendo Entertainment System™) and THE RESCUE OF PRINCESS BLOBETTE (Nintendo Game Boy™), that will lead you on many exciting adventures with delicious surprises and comical characters.
From the creator of Pitfall!, A Boy and His Blob: Trouble on Blobolonia is a puzzle platformer where a Boy discovers an alien blob-like creature seeking to save his planet of Blobolonia from an evil emperor. The two team up with a plan to feed the candy-loving Emperor the worst of all things — VITAMINS! You set off armed with 14 jelly beans, each one transforming the blob into a different tool or asset to traverse the map.
To make it easier on the player, the developer used mnemonic devices to help you remember what each jelly bean does. “Tangerine Trampoline” has a rhythm to it, and the punch flavor makes the blob into a hole, a play on the word “Hole Punch.” The fan favorite of course is the Ketchup bean, placed into the game because sometimes the AI-programmed blob would get stuck in the environment, and the bean would allow him to “catch up.”
Released only a year later, The Rescue of Princess Blobette brought the adventures of Boy and Blob to Game Boy. Using the same style of gameplay, the two set off on an adventure to rescue the princess from impending doom at the hands of the antagonistic Alchemist within Blobolonia’s Royal Castle.
The Retro Collection brings these two delightful games together in both the US and Japanese versions. With modern-day quality-of-life upgrades like trophies (on PS4/5), filters to change the appearance of the game, and save states so that when those pesky worms take you down, you don’t have the 80’s experience of starting alllllllll the way from the beginning.
Get your jelly bean fix starting October 17, 2023 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.

We broke into September with The Jurassic Park Classic Games Collection and are headed out full steam ahead with Persona 3 Portable! We’re not going to beat a dead horse about how bad this game is, but we will tell you again and again why we thought it would be a good idea to remaster this monstrosity. Check out the video above or read this blog to find out why we took on this terrible, terrible endeavor.
And you can pre-order the damn thing right now.
This was hard for us to keep under wraps!

To do it for the meme, or not do it for the meme, that is the question.
For many, the resurrection of Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties began in 2009 with one angry Nerd. But Plumbers had been written about and discussed many times before its rediscovery in Angry Video Game Nerd episode 74. It earned a 3% rating when reviewed in PC Gamer in 1994 and continued to haunt the minds of gamers for 15 years, “entertaining” all who sat down to play
James Rolfe’s propulsion of the title into the minds of his millions of viewers gave Plumbers stronger and longer legs than ever before, and it was through his video that many of us here at LRG became aware of this title’s existence.
So, Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties is bad. I’m not going to lie. We’ve left it as it is. There was no fixing it. Well, we made it look a little better, but we can only do so much. But gameplay-wise, we couldn’t fix it. More importantly, we didn’t want to fix it. I strain at using the words “artistic integrity” here, but the truth is that the forthcoming remaster of Plumbers deserves to be seen as it was, as it is, as much as a masterpiece like The Legend of Zelda or The Last of Us does. The unfortunate truth is that art is subjective, and if I learned anything from my namby-pamby liberal arts education, it’s that if a piece of media strikes out to make you feel something, anything, it’s art.So how does Limited Run justify rereleasing this dating sim from hell upon the masses of 2023? It’s simple, really: the important part of the game is not the game but everything around it. I don’t think that people go to midnight showings of films like Plan 9 From Outer Space or Eraserhead or Pink Flamingos because they are works of cinematic high art. Cinephiles go to these events to be among like-minded peers, to discuss the making of the films, to gush over their favorite directors, and to mock the hokey bits. We enjoy things like Angry Video Game Nerd, Mystery
Science Theater, and Vinegar Syndrome because they pluck media out of obscurity, tip their hats to the history and culture around a title, and transform it into a new, entertaining product for fans and newcomers. This is one of the most important goals of the Plumbers remaster. It’s not just a re-release of the game. It’s a gentle cradling of it in the context through which it was birthed.
And what is that context? Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties created such a karmic black hole from its unpleasantness that the universe at least gave it an interesting backstory to make up for it. First, you have Jeanne Basone in the lead role, a stuntwoman and actress well known for depicting Hollywood of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. Jeanne’s testimony of the game's making was essential to our work remastering. And speaking of making the game, Plumbers was shot over two days, and tight timelines are always a sure sign that your production is going to be special. And the story continues long after the game’s release. The PC port of the game vanished to time until a copy was uncovered decades later at a university in Muncie, Indiana, of all places. I’m honestly surprised there isn’t a CIA agent, a mob boss, or some other wackadoodle curveball in the story. When Limited Run spent real American dollars to acquire this title, we set out to catalog the whole sordid story. The real product Limited Run seeks to put out is not the terrible game but elaborations on facts like the ones I just shared above, told by the people who were there—by everyone who played a part in this game’s greater story. In this remaster, you’ll find hours of interviews with those wonderful folks, including Jeanne Basone, James Rolfe, experts like Kelsey Lewen of the VGHF, our development team, our media curators, and many other wonderful people who gave their precious time alive to talk about this game with us. Presenting these interviews alongside the game, rather than just doing a straightforward documentary, is the best way we know how to put Plumbers in context for you.
And hey, if you like fun, we did add a little dungeon-crawling mode to the game, and we’ve ensured that the presentation is something that you would expect from a Plumber’s Don’t Wear Ties game in 2023. I can safely say that we did not do it for the meme, but there’s no harm in a little memeing from time to time, so the remaster does reflect that important part of the story as well. After all, we are keeping the integrity of this art intact.
It’s just more Duchamp than DaVinci. Because plumbers. Toilet. Plumbing. Haha.Pre-orders for the physical version of Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties: Definitive Edition launch tomorrow at 10am ET. The digital version for all platforms launches on December 8th, 2023, just in time for Christmas 🎄

Who hasn’t wanted to play their favorite Saturday Morning Cartoon?
Since 1983, when Dragon’s Lair took arcades by storm, we’ve all known that cartoon graphics and video games go together like peanut butter and chocolate. But it’s not just the graphics that make Mythforce one of our must-pre-order titles of the summer—it’s the vibe!

]]>As far as big months go, this was one for the record books! The internet is buzzing with news that LRG is helping to bring back Clock Tower, Tomba, Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties and MORE! But let’s give it up for our real hero, Gex, who saved E3 and brought back hope to thousands in these trying times.
We’re not just resting on the awesomeness of this LRG3, though. Our shipping department is cracking out orders, and we’re producing some awesome stuff you can reserve now, like TMNT soundtracks, Telenet Shooting Collection, and the long-awaited Castlevania Advance Collection.
Let’s wrap up July, starting with a recap of…
It was a big year! We announced tons of all-new digital and physical releases from old friends like WayForward and KONAMI and new partners like Seedy Eye Software and Rightstick Studios. Here’s a full list of everything we announced in alphabetical order:
Now, don’t tell Gex, but this blogger’s favorite reveal this year was Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore! This 2D adventure game is the spiritual successor to a very infamous pair of CD-i, uh, classics, that we’re not 100% sure if we’re allowed to mention by time. But this time, it seeks to be the very best that game can be, featuring tighter gameplay, loads of humor, and returning talent from artist Rob Dunlavey and VO talents Jeffrey Rath and Bonniejean Wilbur. Limited Run and Seedy Eye Software are psyched to bring you the game this year. Now, check out the trailer below!

Let’s talk about game endings. We all have a favorite. For me, it’s the closing credits of Portal. For you, it might be Link’s Awakening, or Braid, or RDR.
We take game endings for granted now, but things weren’t always this way. Game endings were still something of a novelty in the NES era, at least in the realm of action games.
Now, some important video early games included definitive endings: Zork, Wizardry, and Ultima were all built around stories with clear victory conditions and a wrap-up to their relatively complex narratives. But this was largely a product of these games’ origins on computers. PCs could save games to tape and disk so that players could trudge through long, challenging adventures, and the relatively-high RAM of most computers allowed for more complex experiences. Also, there was no arcade owner standing behind your Apple II demanding quarter drops.
But action games were different. There wasn’t a story in Asteroids. You just shot rocks in space until you ran out of lives. Fun, but not built around any real sense of story. Arcade owners didn’t need stories. They needed simple, fun experiences that players could instantly comprehend, easy enough to pull them in, and difficult enough to eke another quarter out of them every couple of minutes.
A lot of early arcade and home video games were two-player sports, tank, or space battle simulations, and again, there was generally no real end beyond a winner determined by high score when time ran out.
Exceptions existed. Adventure by Atari boasted a complex story told almost entirely through blocky imagery, an epic quest across an open world to collect an enchanted chalice and return it to a gold castle. Bringing the magical cup into the final fortress triggered an explosive flashing celebration sequence and ended the game.
But the NES changed all that, and quickly. The blockbuster console hit American shores in the fall of 1985 with a slate of action and sports games including the incredible Super Mario Bros., which dared to taunt us at the end of each world: “The princess is in another castle.” We were finally rewarded at the end of 8-4 with a true victory message, still a rarity in games in America.
Later that year, Commando, Ghosts ‘n Goblins, and Gradius all gave us their original takes on the end-game celebration, and from then on, it was off to the races. Now, there are a LOT of NES games. Hundreds of them. And author Rey Esteban has spent years capturing and cataloging them all. Thus was born NES Endings Compendium Vol. 1: 1985-1989 from Press Run books, a comprehensive account of every NES game ending over that five year period: the good, the bad, and the ugly. It’s a beautiful book styled after classic gaming magazines of the era, backed with bright screenshots and detailed written accounts and context of every ending sequence. We’re proud of it!
It’s your chance to finally get a glimpse at the end of all those rental games you just couldn’t finish, or to catch the finale of every branching path of a multi-ending game. Even if you weren’t around for the Nintendo Entertainment System era, NES Endings Compendium is such a lush and gorgeous book that we guarantee you’re going to adore flipping through every one of its 296 pages.
NES Endings Compendium Vol. 1: 1985-1989 is available to purchase starting today at zaituporteroselectricos. This isn’t a pre-order… these books are on-hand and ready to ship.
The book comes in two editions: a bodacious hardcover and a gnarly numbered Collector’s Edition in a slipcase complete with signed Certificate of Authenticity by the author and stunning commissioned art cards.
]]>We’ve kept our heads down this June, packing and shipping TONS of orders, putting out all-new production updates straight to your inboxes, and preparing for LRG3. But that doesn’t mean we aren’t having a little fun with games like The Good Life, Alien: Isolation - The Collection, and Hyper Gunsport!
Let’s get on with June…starting with our BIGGEST announcement of the year:
LRG3 is set to broadcast on July 12th! Tune in via YouTube or Twitch at 4PM Eastern time to get a first look at some fantastic digital and physical titles. We’re showcasing collabs with some of our old friends, upcoming Carbon Engine titles, and titles we’ve helped bring into the world. And of course, you might hear some news about our old friends John and Jane…
Let’s drop a quick update on TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge! We’re hitting the goals outlined in our last update, and we’re happy to announce that we’re just about at that sweet, sweet finish line for this collection. Manufacturing at its end, the Shadow Boxes are en route. We’re working with all our stakeholders to ensure that this is the most Radical Turtles game money can buy (which is a more fun way of saying that the suits need to sign off on the finished product—but that’s boring and corporate, and the Turtles are too cool for that kind of talk).
We’re holding fast to our ship ETA of Q3. Keep an eye on the socials because the marketing team will get pictures of this beast as soon as it hits the receiving dock!
If you’ve missed our emails, here’s a big ol’ batch of milestone updates for you! Starting this month, we’ve begun to send out status updates for every game that had its pre-order close 2, 5, and 8 months back. We’re still catching up on orders older than those dates, so keep an eye on your inboxes for updates!

We’ve filled our May up with yokai, both terrifying and adorable, Xenomorphs, witches, Newgrounds stars, and more craziness coming soon! Now, summer is imminent, and we’ve got some hot things going on around here.
This month, we’re also seeing some of the seeds we planted in our shipping initiatives blog starting to sprout, with tons of items shipping and production on Standard Editions coming down to just a few months. Things are going to really speed up this summer, so strap in and take a look at what’s going on right now, here on the last day of May, at Limited Run.
For the first time, zaituporteroselectricos is partnering with Games Done Quick (GDQ) to raise money for Doctors Without Borders through the power of speedrunning. To support this amazing cause and kick off GDQ’s summer event, SGDQ, we’re putting out a special foil cover variant of our newly-released Trip World DX Switch physical edition.
We’re donating $5 to Doctors Without Borders USA for each foil cover Trip World DX game sold, with a minimum guaranteed donation of $10,000. We’ve also sent over some additional prizes to SGDQ’s event sweepstakes. Make sure you tune into SGDQ to see what’s in store!
You can pre-order this special version of Trip World DX or shop the entire collection until June 11th!
We’re almost at the finish line for the Contra Anniversary Collection! If you missed this month’s update, read our blog to see how the Ultimate Edition is coming along. You don’t need to wait much longer.
That’s because starting today, we’re launching a new initiative to keep our customers better informed throughout the production process—The Milestone Update!
This is one part of our work to improve shipping times and customer service throughout 2023. At Limited Run, we believe that everyone should have a chance at their favorite game, so we’ve shied away from first-come-first-serve limited sales in favor of manufacturing enough games to meet the demand of the fans. Because of that, our items cannot go into manufacturing until the day after pre-orders end.
So you can see your items coming together at multiple stages of the process, every week, we’ll send out an email to eligible orders coming up on the 2, 5, or 8-month anniversary of pre-orders closing.
If you have an order hitting 8 months old this June, check your emails NOW! You should have an update on your game. 5-month emails will go out next week, and 2-month emails will follow the week after. Then we’ll start the cycle again in the first week of July, ad-infinitum.
After upgrading our backend shipping system, we’ve got a tremendous number of games now shipping. We appreciate your patience as we work through this heavy volume, but rest assured that if your game is on the following super-list, it’s getting ready to ship and will make its way to you in the next few weeks:
